Hi! I’m Marcia. I’m a psychotherapist and life coach who is interested in diagloguing with other human service providers and health professionals about secondary traumatization and compassion fatigue. Finding a balance between professional caring and commitment and my personal life can be challenging. Many of you experience this as well.
Of course, I have other interests and commitments also, and that’s where balance begins. I was born with rhythm which sparked a revival of tap dancing passion a couple of years ago, and I now perform with a dance group. (The little kid in me loves to perform!) I live in Colorado and I love the mountains – hiking, exploring, reading a book along a mountain stream. I am a very curious person and I love to learn. I love creating and I’m excited about exploring this new writing venue. I love my family, my friends and my cats. And I am dedicated to becoming a more worthy world citizen.
Resilience has been one of my passions since childhood when I discovered the thrill of reading biographies. Real people who overcame incredible obstacles and challenges inspired me, providing hope and direction in uncertain times. My profession reflects this interest and I have felt privileged to hear and hold the resilient stories of my remarkable clients.
Today I have expanded my professional vistas to include life coaching, helping people to become their best. I took Dr. Martin Seligman’s groundbreaking positive psychology course Authentic Happiness Coaching. Talk about balance! Positive psychologists say it’s just as important to assist people in reaching their potential as it is to alleviate suffering, to discover what works as well as correcting what doesn’t. To promote thriving and flourishing. And life coaching provides a format for working on the plus side of life. So this is one of my newer passions!
Thriving and flourishing are built on resilience, and I want us, the dedicated service professionals of the world, to stay engaged and productive in our valuable work while living resilient, flourishing lives ourselves.
So, let’s talk together about how we can be our best selves while we continue to provide the essential and valuable services we do!
